Answer:These are designed for a dropped ceiling; however, I used both sets of mine for drywall ceiling. For the kitchen, I cut holes in the ceiling to accommodate the power supply and mounted them flush against the ceiling. For another room, I built boxes from 1x3s. You can purchase the mounting kit separately.
