How Many LED Sports Lights Do I Need?

A: That totally depends on upon the area that you want to cover. For instance, a home tennis court might do well with 6 fixtures at 18 feet high of 30,000 Lumens each. A rec center basketball court might be much brighter with 8 fixtures at 20 feet high and about 45,000 lumens each. Going up higher will require more lumens, but usually creates a more natural feel.

Our big recommendation is to use more fixtures with lower lumens. Trying to light a court with 1 or 2 fixtures will result in shadows and bright sports. Even it out as much as you can by increasing the number of poles and light fixtures. Not always an option if it’s a backyard court, but something to think about.
