It is worth noting that in the selection of color temperature of LED street lamps in the early batch, almost all manufacturers have chosen 6000K, or even 6000K or more, which runs counter to the high-pressure sodium lamp. Why is this? It turns out that under the technical conditions of early phosphors, the luminous efficiency of the cold white light source LED is higher. Compared with color temperature, people pay more attention to the physical property of light effect. The most important way to improve the light efficiency is to increase the excitation efficiency of phosphors. The excitation efficiency of YAG yellow powder is much higher than that of orange powder.

 

Obviously, higher color temperature can get higher light efficiency, and the light efficiency of 5500-6500K color temperature light source is even 48.7% higher than that of warm white light source less than 3500K. The reason why LED is energy-saving is entirely because LED has higher luminous efficiency than other light sources. It is meaningless to talk about energy-saving aside from luminous efficiency. Therefore, in order to pursue high energy-saving rate, most LED street lamp manufacturers choose products with a color temperature of around 6000K, which is understandable.

 

High luminous efficiency not only brings higher energy-saving rate, but also reduces the cost of lamps and makes the products more competitive. With the development of various LED technologies, the efficiency of LED chips has been continuously improved, and the packaging process has also been continuously improved. The luminous efficiency of white LEDs in current applications has exceeded the 160lm/W threshold, and there is still room for improvement in the future. The phosphor technology has also made some breakthroughs. At present, the difference in the luminous efficiency of white LEDs in each color temperature range is not as great as before. The luminous efficiency of the warm white LED light source with a color temperature of 3000-3500K is different from that of the cool white LED light source with a color temperature of 6000-6500K.
