LED Warehouse Lights Buyer's Guide

LED Warehouse Lights Buyer's Guide

Why use LEDs for warehouse lighting?

A: LEDs are best known for small light bulbs, but nowadays larger applications also have their advantages.

1. Cost - The price of high lumen lights like UFO high bay lights has come down. By mid-2018, we saw or had our first rise indicating that we were near a bottom. Now is the perfect time for you to buy and benefit from lower electricity costs. Energy companies may offer rebates for switching to more efficient lighting - see our page on KML-UFOHF for more information.

2. Energy saving - LEDs consume 90% less energy than incandescent lamps, 70% less than metal halide or HPS, and 40% less than fluorescent lamps. At an average US rate of 0.20 per kWh, these installations pay for themselves in 1-4 years. Ask us about our savings calculator you can share with your company or just to see.

3. Appearance - LED looks stylish and modern. They are immediately recognized for the modern aesthetic they offer.

4. Easy - LEDs are easy to install. They are lighter and more compact than older fixtures. Features like instant start make them easier for everyday use than older tubes or metal halides that require preheating. Feel free to turn off the LEDs during lunch!

5. Safe - No UV rays or mercury. LEDs are the safest lamps on the market because they do not produce UV light or mercury like other lamps.

6. Low maintenance - usually bulbs and ballasts must be replaced every few years. With LEDs, maintenance is reduced by 95%.

Use LED warehouse anywhere

Actual installation of a 150-watt UFO-style warehouse light in a barn setup. Highly versatile LED warehouse lighting can be used in buildings ranging from 10 feet to 40 feet tall, from 1,000-square-foot stores to full 1 million-square-foot distribution centers.

How to Design a Warehouse Lighting Layout

A: First measure the space and height where the light is located. Knowing the size will help you plan. A second review of existing light locations (if any). Singing in the same spot can help keep installation costs down if the spacing is correct. Next is to lay out the grid. The higher you go, the brighter the lamps and the farther apart. Here are some examples; at 15 feet height, you need about 20,000 lumens and an average spacing of 14 feet. At 25 feet, you need about 30,000 lumens and 20 feet of spacing. These are suggestions, some areas of light movement require more light.
