Methods and precautions for using ultraviolet UV disinfection lamps

Methods and precautions for using ultraviolet UV disinfection lamps

1. Ultraviolet disinfection is a light disinfection method. Light disinfection methods include (sunlight irradiation, ozone sterilization, ionizing radiation sterilization) and the like. They mainly use ultraviolet radiation to photolyse and denature bacterial proteins, resulting in bacterial death, strong bactericidal power, weak cocci, weak fungi, sensitive growth bacteria, and poor spore sensitivity. (Additional: In addition to routine disinfection, such as tumor patients, pink eye patients, necrotizing fasciitis patients, ICU patients, intensive care patients, leukemia patients, etc., ultraviolet rays must be disinfected twice a day. Now households are also used for ultraviolet disinfection, such as household pets Feeding, toilet disinfection, the elderly and infirm, etc.

Second, the principle of ultraviolet lamp disinfection method: ultraviolet lamp is artificial low-pressure mercury-quartz lamp. Mercury is put into the quartz tube. After being energized, the mercury vaporizes and discharges to become an ultraviolet lamp. After 5-7 minutes, the ionization of the oxygen irradiated by the ultraviolet rays produces ozone, which enhances the sterilization effect. Therefore, the disinfection time must start 5-7 minutes after the light is on. The relative humidity is 50%-60% and the humidity is 50%-60%. The germicidal ability of the UV lamp is closely related to its wavelength, and the optimal wavelength is 254 nanometers. There are 15 commonly used UV lamps, 20, 30, and 40W, and there are currently 30 types of W for clinical use.

3. Ultraviolet lamp disinfection method: the ultraviolet lamp tube can be hung, and the mobile lamp frame can be irradiated. Before irradiation, the indoor dust is cleaned (ultraviolet rays are easily absorbed by dust particles), the doors and windows are closed, and people stop walking, and a 30W ultraviolet lamp tube is installed every 10 square meters. , the effective distance is not more than 2 meters, and the irradiation time is not less than 30 minutes, starting from 5-7 minutes after the light is on. When disinfecting the ward, if the patient has difficulty walking, cover the face with sheets, clothing, or newspaper. When disinfecting items, spread or hang the items to expand the irradiation area, the effective distance is 1 meter, and the irradiation time is not less than 30 minutes.

Four, UV lamp irradiation intensity monitoring:

1. Place the UV intensity measuring instrument perpendicular to the middle of the lamp tube. When the lamp is on for 5 minutes, the instrument can indicate the intensity of UV radiation. If the intensity of the lamp tube is less than 70 microwatts / square centimeter, it should be replaced, generally every 3-6 months.

2. If there is no intensity meter, create a usage time registration card. UV lamps must be replaced after 1000 hours of use.

3. The indicator card measuring instrument places the indicator card 1 meter vertical to the UV lamp. After 1 minute, the diamond in the middle of the indicator card changes from white to purple, which means it is qualified. If it becomes light purple or no discoloration, the lamp tube should be replaced, usually once a month. Air culture is carried out regularly to check the sterilization effect of ultraviolet rays.

Five, UV disinfection precautions:

1. Protect the eyes, prevent keratitis, conjunctivitis and skin erythema. When irradiating, tell the patient not to look directly at the UV light source. If your extremities are covered with sheets, you can wear sunglasses or gauze to cover your eyes. ** When the skin is irradiated by this UV light, mild redness, itching, and dandruff may occur; in severe cases, it may even cause cancer, skin tumors, etc. At the same time, it is also the invisible killer of the eyes

2. Do a good job in the publicity and education of ultraviolet disinfection for family members and patients to avoid the above symptoms.

6. Maintenance of UV lamps:

1. Keep the UV lamp clean; generally wipe the lamp with a 95% alcohol cotton ball or gauze once every two weeks, and register the wipe date. The hospital wipes down the lamps once a week. After turning off the lights, there must be an interval of 3-4 minutes, and then turn on the lights.

2. If the lamp tube is not lit or has poor contact, the lamp tube bracket is broken, and the monitoring is unqualified, immediately seek maintenance from the relevant department to ensure continuous work.
