An LED array or module is an arrangement of LED packages, dies, or chips on a printed circuit board or other substrate, sometimes with optical components that allow the light produced by at least one LED to be distributed in a specific pattern. The LED module is often made of plastic or ceramic and has electrical connectors to couple to the load side of a current source, which is commonly an LED driver. It also has thermal management and mechanical support. In many applications, an LED module—which might be a component of a lighting unit—is attached with one or more LED chips or packages. Since the module does not have a power supply or an ANSI base, it cannot be attached directly to a branch circuit.
