1.Can this bulb be used as a plug-and-play replacement for a fluorescent tube on the kitchen countertop? Or does it call for a ballast bypass or new wiring?
The fluorescent tube(s) must be detached from the ballast. I just severed the cords. Connecting the LED bulb just needs a little alteration to the wiring. The illumination is fantastic!
2.Do we need a low voltage transformer for this?
This tube runs on 12 volts DC, so you may connect it directly to a battery or via a converter to convert 110 or 220 volts AC to 12 volts DC.
3.I'm looking to buy these, but I can't seem to locate any information on how to convert them. Does anybody have that knowledge?
There are straightforward conversion instructions within the box. Use ONLY 12 volts on them, pay attention to polarity, and you should be OK. Although they promote working on 24v, they do not use good materials or workmanship. On 24v, I blow one.
