GU10 vs. MR16: What's the Real Difference and Which One Should You Choose?

MR16: More commonly used in applications requiring precise beam control and high color rendering, such as jewelry display cases, artwork accent lighting, and museum exhibits. The reflector design of MR16 bulbs typically allows for more precise, narrow beam angles.

First, confirm the type of socket used at the installation site rather than deciding on the bulb model upfront; a product that doesn't fit is useless, no matter how cheap it is.


If the site lacks a transformer and you want a hassle-free solution, prioritize GU10 or mains-voltage (direct-drive) MR16 bulbs.


If you have strict requirements for beam angle or Color Rendering Index (CRI), MR16 bulbs often offer optical advantages; you can ask suppliers for optical test reports.


Before placing a bulk order, always obtain a sample for a trial installation to verify that the base, voltage, and dimensions all match.
