Data show that the output value of the LED industry in Guangdong successfully exceeded 210 billion, accounting for about 44.25% of the country's total, and its industrial scale continues to rank first in the country.
After nearly 18 months of vigorous promotion, Guangdong’s LED industry has highlighted its advantages in LED packaging technology and manufacturing technology, MOCVD system R&D and manufacturing, new product development capabilities and standard optical components, product standard formulation, patented technology, and industrial scale. Relying on the advantages of technological innovation, Guangdong LED actively promotes the formulation of product standards, takes the lead in developing LED lighting standard optical components, formulating semiconductor lighting product standards with LED street lamps as the core, and leading the development of the national LED industry.
Up to now, Guangdong Province has 6 epitaxial growth companies, 7 large chip companies, 6 listed companies engaged in LED packaging, nearly 1,000 small and medium-sized companies, and technology patents accounting for more than 40% of the country.
In the first half of 2014, the total output value of Guangdong’s LED industry reached 154.546 billion yuan, and the province’s key LED product exports reached 38.277 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.35%.

The report shows that although the total output value has increased by more than 20% year-on-year, from the perspective of composition, the middle and downstream products are still the main players. Among them, the output value of LED lighting lamps is 34.008 billion yuan, accounting for 22.00% of the total output value; LED accessories materials are 28.709 billion yuan, accounting for 18.58% of the total output value; LED packaging components are 23.790 billion yuan, accounting for 15.39% of the total output value, three categories The total output value of the industry is 86.507 billion yuan, accounting for 55.97% of the total output value.
