How to distinguish solar panel monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon

The development of crystalline silicon solar cells, based on high-purity silicon-based materials, is finally divided into polycrystalline silicon and monocrystalline silicon under the action of two different processes.

The silicon-based material undergoes a rod-drawing process to become a monocrystalline silicon rod, which is then sliced to become a monocrystalline silicon wafer;

The silicon-based material undergoes an ingot casting process to become a polycrystalline silicon ingot, which is then sliced to become a polycrystalline silicon wafer.

The difference visible to the naked eye is:

The monocrystalline silicon cell is dark blue and rectangular;

The polysilicon cell is light blue and square;

Monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are solar panels using high-purity monocrystalline silicon rods as raw materials, and are currently widely used in the photovoltaic market. Monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules have a higher photoelectric conversion rate and perform better than similar products under low light conditions.

Polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are composed of polycrystalline solar cells arranged in different series and parallel arrays. Polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are more cost-effective. The power generation efficiency of polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules in the Optics Valley of Jiaotong University is usually around 17%.
