Industrial Lighting Type
Industrial lighting is completely different from residential lighting, and so is the way it is installed. If you're a client and think you're good enough to tackle an industrial lighting project for your new office building, think again.
Incandescent lamps
The most common type of industrial lighting, incandescent lamps, use a thin wire filament through which electricity is passed. Incandescent bulbs give you 500 to 1000 hours of use and are very easy to install.
high intensity discharge
This type of lighting includes mercury, high pressure sodium and metal halides. This powerful lighting is used for outdoor artificial lighting, landscape and general lighting. These lamps are more energy efficient and last about 20 times longer than incandescent industrial lighting.
compact fluorescent lamp
These types of lamps are very similar to ordinary or standard fluorescent lamps. Compact fluorescent lamps last between 9,000 and 10,000 hours. For maximum effect, compact fluorescent lighting must be used, with the lights on for several hours at a time.
halogen
Halogen lamps produce brighter, whiter light than incandescent lamps. Typically used for display or accent lighting, you'll also find halogens in headlamps and floodlights. Available in a variety of styles, such as mini-can bulbs, single-ended quartz, double-ended quartz, and parabolic aluminized points, these lamps provide more intense light in specific areas. Halogen bulbs last from 3000 to 5000 hours.
