Lighting Basics
1. Lumen value (Lm)
Lumen is the international unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total light emitted by a light source.
2. Candela (CD)
Candela is the International Unit (SI) of Luminous Intensity, a unit that measures the light emitted by a light source in a specific direction. Any given light source will have different luminous intensity in different directions.

3. Beam angle [unit: degree]
The beam angle is the angle between the two directions measured through the nominal beam centerline, and the angle between the two luminous angles at 50% of its maximum luminous intensity. The beam angle of the lamp gives an idea of how the beam propagates from the center of the beam.
4. LUX (LX)
Lux is the International (SI) unit of illuminance and is the luminous flux reaching the illuminated surface, with 1 lumen per square foot equal to 1 foot of candle light, and 1 lumen per square meter equal to 1 lux.

5. Color temperature/correlated color temperature (CCT)
Black body radiators have different colors (Kelvin) when heated to different temperatures. The temperature at which the heated blackbody radiator matches the color of the light source is the color temperature of the light source.
6. Color rendering index (CR)
The color rendering index ranges from 0 to 100 and measures the ability of a light source to display the color of various objects. The reference light source is a black body radiator (cri=100).
7. Light effect (lm/w)
Luminous efficacy refers to the conversion efficiency of a point light source to convert electrical energy into light energy.

8. Design life
Design life refers to the average life of a lighting product when operating at nominal lamp voltage, current and controlled operating environment. Actual lamp life also varies due to differences from these rated conditions.
9. Executability
Not all lighting products are designed for dimming functionality. Dimming non-dimmable LED lighting products can lead to unpredictable results and may affect the product's lifespan. The figure below shows typical input current changes when adjusting the DC voltage input to dimmable and non-dimmable products.
