Ben Paschal began leading fishing excursions when he was only 19 years old, or 16 years ago. He currently owns and runs Laguna Madre Outfitters, which offers customers a secure, fruitful day of fly-fishing for trout and redfish on the lake. Ben offers escorted tours in the Louisiana Marsh from December to early March and the Laguna Madre (Spanish for "Mother Lagoon") in south Texas from March to late December, totaling around 260 charters year.
He has spent so much time on Laguna Madre that he is the only person in the world who really understands the fishing. One of only six hypersaline lagoons in the United States, Laguna Madre is one of the shallowest fisheries in the whole globe. Ben's favourite part of his work is learning the distinctive quirks of this bay system and uncovering new details about it every day. Ben invites customers to the Louisiana Marsh in Louisiana where they may fish for bull redfish, which are distinguished by their enormous size.
Ben takes customers out on the water for an eight-hour fly-fishing day beginning at dawn. He specialises in redfish and trout fishing but can also assist customers in pursuing inshore species like tarpon. Ben uses his worldwide fishing expertise, including trips to Alaska, Argentina, Chile, and several U.S. states, to make sure his customers get the most out of their day in the great outdoors.
The water is one to three feet deep in both the Louisiana Marsh and Laguna Madre. Fishing in such shallow water presents unique difficulties, both in terms of technique and in terms of the equipment needed. With lithium batteries, we can easily go three miles down and try another position if we wish to change locations rather than drifting aimlessly. Ben utilises a 2016 Hell's Bay Professional boat that has two RB100s for the trolling motor and a 24V system. He is also constructing a Panga, a new boat with a 36V system and another RB100, for offshore fishing.
