Status of LED products in ASEAN

Status of LED products in ASEAN

ASEAN is currently the world’s third largest regional organization after North America and the European Union. With a population of 576 million and a gross domestic product (GDP) of 1506.2 billion U.S. dollars, it also has the unique advantage of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area's zero-tariff policy in terms of trade. As the world’s largest LED lighting production area, China has formed a huge industrial chain in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the LED. The comprehensive advantages of the industry are quite obvious. Although the Chinese mainland market also has great development potential, it is very complicated for the industrial chain. In terms of the number of companies, the competitive situation remains severe. At this time, the ASEAN market is more like an undeveloped virgin land.

When many LED companies are closely watching the economic recovery in Europe and America, lamenting that the growth rate is so slow and they want to withdraw or make a difficult transition, the emerging markets of Southeast Asia are the first to usher in economic recovery and development. These revived ASEAN countries will become another growth pole of domestic LED display, LED energy-saving lamp aging line, LED tube aging line, and lighting enterprise exports.

The resurgent Southeast Asian countries have significantly increased their investment in infrastructure construction, and the process of urbanization will undoubtedly be greatly accelerated. LED lighting undoubtedly occupies an extremely important position in the process of urbanization. Commercial lighting, urban street lights, etc. The demand for lighting equipment will be greatly increased. Affected by the European debt crisis, many European countries are cutting government expenditures. This has led to a sharp decline in the European market for lighting equipment in the government procurement and municipal engineering construction. Become another growth pole for the export of LED display screens and LED lighting products.

According to the news released by the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam, the "2011-2020 National Urban Development Plan" drafted by the Ministry of Construction has been completed. The total investment in urban development in Vietnam from 2011 to 2020 will be 1098 trillion dong (about 50 billion US dollars). By 2015 The national urbanization level will reach 38% by the year. According to the plan, 2011-2015 investment in urban development is USD 23 billion, including USD 20 billion in new facilities and USD 3 billion in urban appearance renovation; and USD 27 billion in 2016-2020, including USD 24 billion in new facilities. , The city appearance renovation investment is 3 billion US dollars.

It can be seen that LED lighting has huge potential for expansion in the ASEAN market and may become a new strategic base for Chinese LED companies in the future.
