Your guide to E14 LED bulbs

Our helpful E14 bulb guide will provide you with all the information you need to make the transition to energy-saving lighting simpler than ever.

An E14 LED bulb: what is it?

The bulbs with a screw base are called E14 bulbs. Do not confuse these with E27 bulbs, which also have a screw base but are broader for larger fittings. An example of an E27 bulb is shown below.

The form, size, and fit of E14 LED and E14 halogen bulbs are identical, so you can just screw in your new LEDs and start saving right away.

What power do I require?

Lumens are used to express how bright an LED bulb is. A 40w halogen/incandescent bulb, for instance, is comparable to a light source of 300–350 lumens. The most accurate approach to assess a bulb's brightness is to measure it in lumens. This is so because other elements, such as light color and beam angle, have an impact on brightness; narrower beam angles result in more concentrated (and, thus, brighter) light. BENWEI provides the approximate wattage-lumen equivalents so that you can shop with confidence.

What shade of light is most suitable for me?

One of the major advantages of LED lights is the variety of light colors available, giving you complete control over the ambiance. Kelvins are used to measure LED color. Higher Kelvin ratings provide whiter light, whereas lower Kelvin ratings produce warmer glows. E14 bulbs are available in three different colors:
Bright White
White Daylight Cool

Will an electrician be required to install these bulbs?

Just like regular E14 bulbs, LED E14 bulbs are installed by screwing them into the fitting.

Which beam angle is required?

Degrees are used to express beam angle. A wider beam angle illuminates a larger area. The choice of beam angle is entirely up to you, just as the color variety. As a general rule, we'd suggest employing broader beam angles in living spaces with lots of people congregating there. On the other hand, narrow beam angles are frequently applied to regions that require focus or for ornamental purposes.

How much is an E14 going to run me?

At BENWEI, we continually work to strike a balance between high caliber and reasonably priced products. Our E14 bulbs range in price from about £3 to £5 and are made to last for 25,000 hours. On the surface, this could appear to be much more expensive than the halogen or incandescent bulbs you're used to purchasing. However, the amount you save on energy costs far outweighs the initial investment. In fact, it will take just six months for your tiny investment to pay off. Shop our E14 LED selection here.
