Comparison of T8 tube and incandescent lamp

Comparison of T8 tube and incandescent lamp

Advantages: Compared with traditional light bulbs (incandescent lamps) of the same luminosity, T8 lamps have higher luminous efficiency, because a higher proportion of the energy consumed is converted into visible light, and less converted into heat energy and wasted, so use The temperature of the fluorescent tube of the same luminosity in the incandescent lamp is lower than that of the incandescent lamp. Incandescent lamps generally can only convert about 10% of the input energy into visible light. T8 tubes with the same luminosity generally only need about 1/3 to 1/4 of the electricity consumed by the former, and their service life is about 10 to 20 longer than traditional bulbs. Much times.

Although the purchase cost of T8 lamps is slightly higher than that of incandescent lamps, it can save more energy and electricity bills. The longer lifespan also reduces its replacement cost. For businesses, it can also save the labor cost of replacing bulbs.

Disadvantages: The fluorescent tube does not provide a stable light source, but a flickering light source. Its flicker frequency is related to the frequency of the driving voltage. Although it is not easy to detect by the human eye, it can produce a strobe effect, which may cause danger in some working environments. For example, a rotating fan, if its frequency is the same as that of a fluorescent tube, will seem to stop moving. Fluorescent tubes will also cause flicker in the footage taken by the camcorder. Although traditional light bulbs will also flicker, their intensity is lower. Standard brightness adjustment switches cannot be used for fluorescent tubes.

The current electronic ballast has basically solved this problem. Traditional inductive ballasts use mains power (frequency 50-60Hz) to directly drive fluorescent tubes, while electronic ballasts use high-frequency oscillation feedback ballast (high-frequency switching resonant circuit current limiting), and its output The frequency of the driving voltage has been greatly increased, and the flicker frequency of the fluorescent tube has also been increased accordingly, and the human eye is no longer affected by this high-frequency flicker.
