Components of a Solar Street Light
PV solar panel
The solar street light is powered by solar panels. It gathers solar electricity from the sun and transforms it into direct current (DC) power. The capacity of the luminary and the needed number of autonomous days affect the solar panel's power.
Luminary
The light that provides the necessary illumination is known as a luminary. CFL luminaries were widely used in the past. But during the last 8 years, LED lighting have proliferated. The size of the luminary must be determined by the illumination needs.
Charging Control
Charge controllers control how the battery is charged and discharged. They control the incoming voltage to charge the battery and stop the battery from discharging completely. The circuit to turn on and off the luminary is contained with the charge controller in a solar street light. Either a separate device is supplied for the charge regulation, or it is included within the luminary.
Battery
The electricity produced by the solar panel is stored in a battery. C 10 Tubular batteries are the kind that are used. SMF batteries are also used on occasion due to their affordability and lack of maintenance. Lithium Ion batteries are used in the integrated street lighting. C 10 rated tubular batteries are the finest in terms of longevity.
Pole
The integrated street light may be mounted on a wall or a pole. The luminary alone may be installed in a pole or a wall in a classic solar street. The pole is anti-corrosive and made of MS or GI. The solar panels and batteries may be mounted on the pole. The pole contains mounting arms for solar panels and luminaires.
Installation
Solar street lights are ready to be fixed all at once. At the place, traditional street lights must be put together.
Step-by-step instructions for installing conventional solar street lighting
1.The pole must be attached with the solar panel mounting framework.
2.Along with the pole, the light arm is required to install the luminary.
3.The solar panel mounting framework must be attached to the solar panel.
4.It is necessary to mount the LED luminary to the luminary.
5.The LED luminary with an integrated charge controller has to be wired from the solar panel. Within the pole, the wire must be hidden. If there is an external charge controller, the solar panel and luminaire must be connected to the charge controller. The wiring from the luminaire to batteries must be constructed in any scenario. But after the erection, the battery has to be repaired.
6.On top of the earth pit, the pole is built. Concrete mix must be used to cover the pit.
7.The connections may be finished by connecting the cable from the luminary/charge controller with the battery after the pole is able to stand upright. The battery can then be maintained within the battery box.
