Geely invests 5 billion yuan to build a lithium-ion battery energy storage manufacturing project in Jiangxi
On December 15th, Xingneng Digital Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xingneng Digital Technology), a subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, signed a cooperation agreement with Poyang County, Shangrao, Jiangxi, and invested 5 billion yuan to build a lithium-ion battery energy storage manufacturing project.
According to Qichacha, Xingneng Digital Technology was established in November 2021. It is understood that Xingneng Digital Technology is an important layout for Geely Holding Group to accelerate the promotion of low-carbon transformation and development, and it is important to provide users with lithium-ion battery energy storage products and power station operation services.
In addition, in August this year, Wei Rui Electric Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Geely Group, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Deke IOT. Cooperation on urban super-charging fields that combine energy storage and green energy. It is reported that the investment in the cooperative cities will reach a scale of 10 billion.
The background of Geely's large-scale deployment of energy storage business is that the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage in my country will reach at least 30GW in 2025, and the new energy storage market represented by electrochemical energy storage has huge room for growth in the next five years.
According to GGII statistics, since 2021, the bidding and launch of various electrochemical energy storage projects has accelerated. Among them, lithium-ion battery energy storage projects have entered the initial stage of commercial application, and their application scope covers the power generation side, the grid side and the user side.

GGII industry research information shows that the domestic top 2 lithium-ion battery company's energy storage lithium-ion battery shipments in 2021 are expected to increase by more than 5 times on the basis of 2020.
Recently, Liu Yafang, deputy director of the Science and Technology Equipment Department of the National Energy Administration, said that it is expected that by the end of this year, my country's new energy storage capacity will exceed 4 million kilowatts (4GW). According to incomplete statistics, the total installed capacity of "wind power + photovoltaic" power generation is 127.8GW. If the energy storage capacity is calculated at 10%, it is expected to reach about 12.78GW.
GGII predicts that the cumulative domestic electrochemical installed capacity is expected to exceed 50GW in 2025, and the electrochemical energy storage market will enter an accelerated period. The important driving force for over-provisioning comes from the demand for centralized wind and solar energy storage on the power generation side and the outbreak of the demand for energy storage on the user side.
