How to achieve a side-lit panel light with remote color temperature adjustment (4000K+UV405nm)?

 

1. Remote CCT Tuning for Edge‑Lit Panel Lights

Can edge‑lit panels adjust color temperature by remote? How?

Yes.CCT tuning works by independently controlling the brightness ratio of cool white and warm white LEDs using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).

Common control methods:

3-step wall-switch tuning: Switches between CW/WW by quick on/off; simple and low-cost.

IR remote tuning: IR receiver + MCU + PWM; smooth dimming and easy operation.

2.4G RF remote: RF module + MCU + PWM; strong through-wall signal, supports group control.

In edge‑lit design, CW and WW chips are arranged alternately. Light mixes evenly through the light guide plate, reflector film and diffuser, ensuring uniform output without blotches.

Recommended: 2.4G remote + dual PWM for smooth CCT adjustment from 2700K to 6500K.

LED layout for uniform CCT mixing

Cool white and warm white LEDs alternate evenly.

Spacing is consistent to avoid bright spots.

LED centers align with the light guide plate edge.

CW : WW ratio = 1:1 for widest tuning range.

Two separate circuits: CW in series, WW in series, each with independent PWM.

Does CCT tuning cause uneven light or color patches?

No.Edge‑lit structure naturally provides excellent light mixing.The light guide plate turns dots into a uniform plane, the reflector boosts efficiency, and the diffuser finalizes even distribution.Color and brightness stay consistent across the panel.

 

2. How to achieve 4000K White + UV405nm

Solution 1: 405nm UV‑excited white + extra 405nm UV (Recommended)

White light: 405nm chip + RGB phosphors → 4000K white, no blue light hazard

Auxiliary UV: separate 405nm LED for added violet output

Control: dual independent PWM for white and UV

Advantages:

Spectrum over 95% similar to natural sunlight

CRI Ra ≥ 95, R1–R15 > 90

Eliminates harmful blue light peaks

Solution 2: Blue‑chip white + 405nm UV (Conventional)

White light: 450nm blue chip + yellow phosphor → 4000K white

UV: additional 405nm LEDDisadvantage: Still has blue light hazard.

 

3. Applications

Dental / Medical: 4000K white + 405nm for resin curing

Sterilization: White lighting + timed UV for surface disinfection

Fluorescence inspection: UV mode for detection and verification

High-end home: 4000K healthy low-blue light for eye comfort

 

4. Summary
