How to control chicken lights - chicks

Reasonable control of chick brooding lights is very important for the healthy growth of chicks. By adjusting light intensity, timing and choosing the right fixtures, farmers can help reduce chick mortality and health problems. If the lighting for chick brooding is not controlled well, it will lead to increased mortality, poor growth, mental depression and other problems. Therefore, reasonable control of chick brooding lights is very important for the healthy growth of chicks. Here are some ways to help chicken farmers control brooding lights.

1. Adjust the light intensity

Chickens are relatively sensitive to light. If the intensity is too high or too low, it will have an adverse effect on the health of the chickens. Therefore, in the case of strong light, the light intensity can be reduced to reduce the illumination of the chicks. At the same time, the light intensity can be adjusted by adjusting the distance of the light source. In the early stages of brooding, lower light intensity should be the main focus, and as the chicks grow, the light intensity should be gradually increased.

Light time. The growth period generally lasts from 8 to 11 hours a day, and the laying period can last from 14 to 16 hours a day.

Light intensity. During the growth period, 5 lux to 10 lux is suitable, and during the laying period, around 10 lux is optimal.

Light color. Red light can be used for small chickens and white light for large chickens.

2. Time arrangement

Timing of lighting is also very important. Generally speaking, chicks need 14 to 16 hours of light per day during the first two weeks of life, and then gradually reduce the time to 12 hours. During the 12-hour lighting period, some irregular lights can be appropriately turned on to adjust the chicken's routine. If you want to increase the brooding speed of chicks, you can appropriately extend the lighting time.

3. Use appropriate lighting fixtures

Choosing the right lighting fixtures is also very important. Generally speaking, in the early stages of brooding, warm-colored light sources, such as red or yellow light bulbs, should be used to give the chicks a warm feeling. As the chicks grow, they can be gradually replaced with white bulbs.
