RV LED lights installed at the factory
Our RV, constructed in 2005, predates the widespread use of LED lighting. However, costs have drastically decreased since that time, and RV manufacturers are now delivering brand-new RVs with LED lighting already fitted.
M4 LED replacement module for an LED fixture that came installed.
Quality replacement modules for factory-installed LEDs contain sturdy circuitry and aluminum heat sinks.
Not to disparage RV manufacturers, but their efforts to save costs frequently result in lower-quality LED fixtures being installed (price being a major consideration, of course), which causes problems. Unfortunately, the majority of these new LED lights have the LED modules hardwired into the fixture, unlike our "old" kind of light fixtures (where there is a socket that takes a conventional bulb). As a result, when they malfunction, the whole fixture must often be replaced.
There is no issue since it is covered under warranty (other than the inconvenience of bringing your RV in for service). However, after your warranty has run out, you're on your own to foot the bill for a full replacement.
So far, at least. For a number of popular factory-installed LED fixtures, M4 LED Products has started to sell replacement LED modules (from suppliers like ITC, Command Electronics, and SunLink). These replacement modules use better LEDs and circuits, have more efficient metal heat sinks, and are available in the light hue of your choosing (warm white, natural white, or cool white).
The M4 replacement modules will be substantially more dependable than the factory-installed ones that first let you down because of their enhanced components. so that you may enjoy your RVing more and spend less time changing lightbulbs. ????
