Technical Guide for Industrial-Grade LED Floodlight Installation Solutions
By Kevin Rao December 1,2025
The installation method of industrial lighting systems directly impacts equipment efficiency and service life. Different installation positions correspond to specific light distribution patterns and engineering standards.
Technical Parameters for Pole Mounting
Pole mounting is suitable for large open areas. Standard pole heights are categorized into three levels: 6 meters, 8 meters, and 10 meters. Six-meter poles are applicable for parking lot aisle lighting, eight-meter poles cover standard operational areas, and ten-meter poles are used for large storage yards or transport areas.
The installation spacing follows a 1:1.5 ratio between height and spacing. Eight-meter poles should maintain a 12-meter spacing to ensure illuminance uniformity above 0.7. The pole foundation depth is 1/10 of the pole height, with concrete strength grade not lower than C25.
Engineering Standards for Wall Mounting
Wall mounting includes two forms: side mounting and top mounting. The recommended height for side mounting is 4.5-5.5 meters above ground, with a tilt angle of 15-30 degrees. Top mounting positions should extend 1.2 meters beyond the building outline to avoid wall shadows.
The load-bearing capacity of mounting brackets must be more than three times the luminaire weight. In coastal or industrial areas, bracket materials should be 304 stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized steel, with a zinc layer thickness not less than 80μm.
Implementation Specifications for Ground Spike Installation
Ground spike installation is suitable for temporary lighting and landscape areas. Standard spike pipe diameters are 48mm and 60mm, with an embedding depth not less than 400mm. Foundation compaction density must reach over 90%.
Ground spike luminaires must have an IP67 protection rating, suitable for direct soil contact environments. Cable burial depth should not be less than 500mm, with protective conduits installed.

Key Points for Engineering Implementation
Structural Load-Bearing Calculations
Pole mounting requires foundation bearing capacity verification. An 8-meter pole under 25m/s wind speed conditions should have a foundation bending moment not less than 8kN·m. Wall-mounted brackets require separate anchorage strength verification when luminaire weight exceeds 15kg.
Electrical Wiring Standards
Outdoor cable burial depth should not be less than 0.7 meters. Use PVC electrical conduits for protection, with conduit diameter 1.5 times larger than cable outer diameter. Junction boxes should have at least IP65 protection rating, with 10% additional wiring space reserved internally.
Optical Debugging Standards
Use distributed illuminance meters for on-site measurements. Measurement points are arranged in a grid pattern, with spacing 1.5 times the installation height. Illuminance uniformity should not be lower than 0.7, with UGR glare index controlled below 25.
FAQ
Pole Foundation Construction Period
Conventional concrete foundation curing period is 28 days. Using early-strength concrete can reduce this to 7 days, but requires a 15% cost increase.
Anti-Corrosion Treatment for Wall Mounts
Hot-dip galvanized layer thickness should not be less than 80μm. In severely corrosive environments, epoxy resin coating is recommended, extending service life to 15 years.
Geological Requirements for Ground Spike Installation
Soil resistivity should be below 100Ω·m. In areas with high groundwater levels, waterproof concrete foundations and drainage layers are required.
Luminaire Maintenance Access
Pole maintenance requires a 4-meter wide access road. Aerial work platforms need an operational radius not less than 6 meters and turning radius not less than 8 meters.
Lightning Protection Grounding Standards
Pole grounding resistance should not exceed 10Ω. Air terminals should use 12mm diameter galvanized round steel, with down conductor spacing not greater than 18 meters.
Cable Selection Principles
Main cable current-carrying capacity must be 1.5 times greater than the total load. Outdoor cables should be YJV22 type, with steel tape armor protection for buried sections.
