What are the optimizations of LED educational lighting tailored for classroom lighting?

Students' eyesight has been a hot spot in the society in recent years, and problems such as blue light hazards, stroboscopic and glare of classroom lights have also attracted much attention. For example, does LED light source pose a safety hazard to the eyesight of children who are developing? To create a more comfortable and green teaching light environment, people have designed LED educational lights for educational lighting. So what are the optimizations of these LED educational lighting tailored for classroom lighting?

I learned from the LED educational lamp manufacturer that the LED educational lighting first solved the biggest problem of ordinary LED lamps - glare, and installed an anti-glare device for the LED light source. There are two main types of such devices: grille anti-glare plate and microprism anti-glare plate. With this anti-glare, the glare level (UGR) of LED educational lighting can be reduced to below 15, while the glare level of ordinary LED lamps is mostly greater than 20, and the glare level stipulated by various documents in the education industry is less than 19. It means that the glare treatment of LED educational lighting is better than the standard of the education industry.

The LED educational lighting has also been optimized in terms of color rendering index. The color rendering index, as the name implies, is a measure of the degree to which the color of an object is restored under a certain lighting. Ordinary LED lamps are usually between 70-80, while the color rendering index of LED educational lighting is greater than 90, which can truly present the color of objects. At present, the education industry standard document proposes that it is not less than 80. In terms of color rendering performance, LED educational lighting is better than the industry standard.

The LED educational lighting has also been optimized for stroboscopic processing. Although ordinary LED lamps cannot see stroboscopic flicker with the naked eye, the data shows that the light flicker (fluctuation depth) is greater than 20%. Reading in this light environment will accelerate visual fatigue. The LED educational lighting is optimized, the light stroboscopic (fluctuation depth) is less than 3.2%, the light is soft and comfortable. At present, the education industry standard document has not clearly stipulated the value of optical stroboscopic (fluctuation depth).

The color temperature of the LED educational lighting source has also been upgraded. The color temperature of ordinary LED lamps is greater than 6500K, and the "Standards for Lighting and Lighting Hygiene in Primary and Secondary Schools" points out that the color temperature of educational lighting should be between 3300K-5500K. It happens that the color temperature of the LED educational lighting is stable at the value of 5000K!

LED educational lighting is also worthy of recognition in terms of blue light processing. Blue light is an important component of white light, which not only plays an important role in ensuring color rendering, but also regulates circadian rhythms. Usually the "blue light hazard" we hear refers to the 400-500 nm blue light band of the light source. If the radiant brightness is too high, the eyes may cause photochemical damage to the retina after looking directly at the light source for a long time. There is a unified rating specification GB/T 20145-2006/IEC62471 for blue light retinal hazard. The LED lamps for daily general lighting belong to Class 0 or Class 1, which belongs to the safety category, while the light of LED educational lighting has reached the exemption level.
