What is a GU10 Spotlight Bulb?

What is a GU10 Spotlight Bulb?

The GU10 spotlight bulb is the type of spotlight bulb that may be found in the vast majority of residences in today's society.

This type of light bulb is also known as a PAR16 light bulb, and it is frequently put to use in areas that require strong, focused illumination, such as workstations and kitchens.

It is shaped like a traditional spotlight, with a slim base that gradually spreads into a rectangular or ever-so-slightly rounded aperture.

The cap fittings on these light bulbs are referred to as GU10, which is an abbreviation.

The bottom of the light bulb has two protrusions that resemble little squares and are relatively short. The centres of the pins are spaced ten millimetres apart from one another.

The design of the pins is known as a "push-and-twist" design. When a light bulb is appropriately put in a fitting, it is held in place in the fitting and will not fall out of the fitting. This is especially crucial for spotlight lamps because they are frequently pointed downwards.

Beam Angles

According to the laws, in order for a light bulb to be considered a spotlight, also known as a directional light source, regulations stipulate that eighty percent of the light output of the bulb must be directed into a cone of light that has a diameter that is smaller than one hundred twenty degrees. The beam angle of the light bulb is determined by measuring the size of this cone, which provides the value for the beam angle.

Narrow Beam Angles Ranging from 15 to 20 Degrees

A narrower beam angle, in which the light is concentrated into a focused beam, is denoted by a smaller angle. This type of beam angle is ideal for display reasons, such as showcasing products on a shop-floor display. The angle of 15-20 degrees is considered to be the norm when serving this function.

Wide Beam Angles Ranging from 35 to 45 Degrees

A wider angle indicates a wider beam angle, which indicates that the light is directed and may be aimed towards particular regions of a room. However, because the light is more diffuse, it does not leave any other areas of the room in complete darkness. These kinds of lights are ideal for use as kitchen lights because the beam may be aimed at an object such as a sink, a countertop or a stove. 35–45 degrees would be the normal angle used for this purpose.

Temperature in Relation to Colour

There is a wide range of colour temperatures that can be found in spotlight bulbs, and each colour temperature is intended to be used for a different endeavour.

The following is a condensed version of our guidance, which, without getting into too much depth, can help you choose which colour temperatures are appropriate for the various rooms in your house.
