The new LUXEON LED® with BIOS SkyBlue® Circadian technology eliminates obstacles to improved Human Centric Lighting.
BIOS, a pioneer in Human Centric Lighting (HCL), and Lumileds®, a global provider of lighting solutions, have partnered to develop a new SkyBlue® LED that surpasses the capabilities of the most recent semiconductor technology. The new 3030 mid-power LED significantly reduces the lumen per dollar development barrier that luminaire manufacturers face, thereby eliminating a critical obstacle to the introduction of healthier, more effective lighting solutions to the market.
The new LUXEON LED was developed by Lumileds scientists to provide the BIOS proprietary SkyBlue Circadian technology. For a period of tens of thousands of years, human cellular biology has acknowledged and responded to blue-sky light. BIOS developed its SkyBlue Circadian technology, which interacts with a non-visual photoreceptor in the eye, utilising science that was developed at NASA. SkyBlue enhances mood, enhances alertness, improves focus, and strengthens circadian rhythm during the day. SkyBlue generates a milder environment in the evening, which facilitates the production of natural melatonin, thereby facilitating a more restful night's sleep.
Lumileds, a global leader and innovator in LED technology, contributes its engineering, phosphor, manufacturing, and solution expertise to the human-centric lighting ecosystem through its partnership with BIOS. "We are capable of doubling the lumen output in our 3030 package, which will result in a system performance increase from 110 to 160 lumens per watt."
