DLC 5.0 VS 5.1
The establishment of a base effectiveness requirement for all goods in DLC 5.1 is the major change. This implies that in order to be included on the QPL, all products must achieve a minimum standard of energy efficiency.
Depending on the kind of product and how it will be used, different base efficacy rules apply. For instance, to be included on the list, typical linear fluorescent lighting must have an efficacy of at least 50 lumens per watt (LPW). This is a significant increase from the present standard of 40 LPW and will lead to the creation of fluorescent lighting fixtures that are more effective.
Under DLC 5.1, in addition to the base efficacy criterion, there are a number of other adjustments. These include updated fundamental principles for color rendering and flicker as well as modifications to the product categories that qualify for QPL listing.
Although these adjustments might appear insignificant, they will increase lighting products' efficiency and promote the creation of new technologies.
