How to introduce modern lighting techniques into architectural design?

At the center of the space is a glass staircase, the interior of which is washed with LEDs. The architect's initial concept was for the staircase to float inside, but lighting designer Ken Ventry of Focus Lighting took the concept a step further, using 816 cool white LEDs to create a glow that connects the two floors. stairs.

LED illuminated stairs

The back of each glass stair slab is fitted with custom tracks to house 51 LEDs, which emit a cool blue light that fills the stairwell and complements the warm white tones of the rest of the room. The LEDs were chosen because they are energy efficient and long-lived, the entire stairwell uses only about 122.5W, which is roughly equivalent to the power of two household light bulbs. Numerous models were made to determine the number and location of LEDs within each stair slab. In the end, 17 LEDs per extension yielded the ideal light to light up every step and countertop. At night, strange projections of the stairwell appear on the stainless steel fireplace and glass partitions in the living room.

The white bookshelf is the highlight of the two study rooms

Going up the illuminated staircase to the second floor, the custom-made ceiling installation in the master bedroom brings soft light to the whole room. This 21-foot (about 640cm) long and 10-inch (about 25.4cm) wide aluminum structure accommodates 3 rows of frosted xenon lamps inside, and is suspended under the curved ceiling by 3 aviation wire ropes. A wire running parallel to the lanyard carries power from one end of the member.

In the master bathroom, blue LEDs are embedded in the granite floor, casting light towards the bottom of the tub. A large rectangular mirror is also the protagonist of the space, forming a warm halo around the lighting behind it.

The design within the space creates a unified style for the owner. Bespoke fittings accentuate the originality of the space, making it a proud home for the owner.
