Learn to use the "half-hour illumination method" to distinguish the quality of the radiator

What method can be used to better distinguish the quality of the radiator? It is recommended that you use the "half-hour illuminance method", turn on the illuminance meter, fix the lamp in a position and illuminate the illuminance meter, and read the initial illuminance, such as 1000lx.

Read the illuminance meter again after half an hour. Generally speaking, its illuminance will drop, because the LED chip has a characteristic. As the junction temperature rises, its light output will decrease, so the illuminance can be deduced from it. How high has the temperature risen?

At this time, it doesn't matter whether the surface is hot or not, the important thing is the number it shows. Is it better for numbers to rise or fall?

Generally, if the illuminance drops within 10% in half an hour, it is qualified or even better; if the illuminance drops by 20% in half an hour, then this is a bit of a problem; if the illuminance in the hot state for half an hour drops more than 20% than the illuminance in the cold state , The junction temperature has basically exceeded the tolerance range of the chip, so it can basically be judged that the heat sink is unqualified.

Heat dissipation is particularly important for LEDs, and the most important thing is the junction temperature of the chip inside.

If you want to get accurate information, you have to get the temperature and light output curve of the chip. This is not applicable to all LEDs. The light output of some manufacturers’ LED chips has nothing to do with temperature, and can even withstand high temperatures. In this special situation, it is best to look at the measured curve of the manufacturer's product, but for most LEDs, this method is applicable.
