The effect of 365nm UV light on banknote inspection

The most popular wavelength for expert banknote examination is 365 nm UV lamps. It has a more pronounced impact than 395 nm and may effectively activate the banknote's fluorescent anti-counterfeiting mark. An examination of the typical banknote inspection impact of several currencies under a 365 nm UV light is shown below:

1. The Fifth Edition of RMB

Line of security:

Bright yellow or green fluorescence will be seen on the security line of 100 yuan, 50 yuan, and other banknotes (various denominations have different hues).

Fiber that is fluorescent:

fluorescent fibers that are randomly dispersed in red and blue (dot-shaped or short filaments under ultraviolet light).

Number of denominations:

Some versions (such the ones released after 2015) may exhibit significant fluorescence in the top right corner number.

Additional marks:

Weak fluorescence responses may be seen in certain backdrop patterns, such as geometric designs or flowers.

In contrast to 395 nm, 365 nm exhibits more vivid hues and greater fluorescence, with red threads being particularly noticeable.

2. The US dollar (USD)

Thread for Security:

The banknote's vertical strip will display bright colors in various denominations, such pink for $100, as well as red, green, and blue.

The star pattern

Blue fluorescence will be emitted by some stars and boundaries.

Near the Portrait:

The picture is surrounded by a neon circle on the updated US dollar (issued after 2013).

Features: The US dollar's multi-layer anti-counterfeiting can be readily seen at 365 nm, but counterfeit bills often don't respond like that or have other colors.

3. Fluorescent fiber in euros (EUR):

The currency has randomly placed red, blue, and green fluorescent dots that are very brilliant at 365 nm.

Pattern of Constellations:

Certain designations, like Cancer, will have a luminous effect in their constellation diagrams.

Numbers of Denomination:

There is a luminous color changing effect on the front numerals of big denomination euros (50, 100, and 200).

Benefits include the complexity of Euro anti-counterfeiting technology and the ability to completely identify its fluorescent properties at 365 nm.

4. Other money (such as Canadian dollars, pounds, etc.)
GBP, or the British pound:

Under UV light, the plastic banknote's clear window and Queen's picture will display fluorescent patterns.

The Canadian dollar (CAD):

Red or green fluorescence will be emitted by the maple leaf motif and certain words.
