What are the effects of yellow cover LED tubes?

The effects of yellow cover LED tubes depend on their spectral characteristics, application scenarios and the material of the cover (such as transmittance, color saturation, etc.). The following is an analysis of its common effects and uses:

1. Optical effects

Color temperature and hue:
Pure yellow LED (wavelength of about 580~595nm) will present warm yellow light, similar to sodium lamps or sunset tones.

If it is a white light LED + yellow filter cover, the color temperature will be reduced (such as from 6000K to below 3000K), but the color rendering may be lost (CRI reduction).

Brightness attenuation:
The yellow cover will absorb some light (especially blue-violet light), resulting in a brightness reduction of about 20~50% (depending on the thickness of the cover and the color concentration). below is BENWEI yellow cover led light test report

2. Functional uses

(1) Atmospheric lighting
Warm feeling: Yellow light can create a warm and comfortable atmosphere, suitable for scenes such as homes, restaurants, and cafes.

Retro style: imitates the color tone of incandescent lamps or gas lamps, often used for decorative lighting (such as bars and exhibition halls).

(2) Special scene lighting
Low interference lighting:
Yellow light is not easy to attract insects (insects are more sensitive to ultraviolet and blue light), suitable for outdoor gardens and camping lights.

Dark vision protection:
Yellow light is less irritating to the human eye at night and can be used for cabins, dark rooms or night safety lighting.

(3) Safety and warning

High penetration:
In foggy or dusty environments, yellow light has stronger penetration than white light and is often used for tunnels, parking lots or traffic signal auxiliary lighting.

Warning function:
Dark yellow (amber) is often used for warning lights and engineering vehicle lighting (such as forklifts and sweepers).

(4) Functional lighting

Photography and stage:
Professional yellow light LED tubes (high CRI) can be used for film and television lighting to simulate dusk or special color effects.

Plant growth aid: Some plants have weak absorption of yellow light (580~600nm), which can be used with other spectra (but the efficiency is lower than red and blue light).

3. Performance impact
Color rendering index (CRI):
The CRI of monochromatic yellow LED is usually low (Ra 20~50) due to the lack of other spectra;
White LED + yellow cover will retain some color rendering (Ra 50~70), but red/green objects may be distorted.

Energy efficiency: The filter cover will lose some light efficiency. It is recommended to choose LED chips that directly emit yellow light to improve efficiency.

4. Notes
Material selection: Avoid using cheap plastic covers (easy to age and become brittle), and give priority to PC/PMMA materials (high temperature resistance and UV resistance).

Heat dissipation design: The yellow cover may hinder heat dissipation, and it is necessary to ensure that the heat dissipation structure of the lamp tube is reasonable (such as metal substrate + air vents).

Scene matching:
Dark yellow is suitable for warning and decoration, and light yellow is more suitable for daily lighting.

Typical application examples
Scenario Recommended color tone Effect
Home bedroom Light yellow (2700K~3500K) Warm and relaxing
Outdoor courtyard Amber yellow (580nm) Insect repellent + low light pollution
Industrial warning Dark yellow/orange High visibility + penetrating haze
Photographic fill light High CRI yellow light (Ra≥80) Natural skin color restoration
If you need a more accurate effect, it is recommended to check the product's spectrum or actual test (such as illumination, color coordinates). Some brands (such as http://www.benweilight.com) provide customized yellow light LED solutions.
