What is the storage humidity of LED lights?

The storage humidity requirements of LED lights need to balance moisture protection and electrostatic protection. Different components have different sensitivities to humidity. The following are specific standards and management recommendations:

1. General storage humidity standards

Humidity range Applicable scenarios Risk description
30%~60% RH Ideal range (most LED lamps) Avoid moisture oxidation or static damage
<30% RH Dry environment (but anti-static) Static electricity may damage LED driver IC
>70% RH Must be strictly avoided (unless sealed packaging) Metal parts rust/circuit short circuit/mold growth

2. Humidity sensitivity of key components

Component Maximum tolerance humidity Failure risk
LED chip 60% RH Oxidation of solder joints leads to accelerated light decay
Aluminum substrate 65% RH Corrosion of aluminum layer in humid environment
Drive power supply 50% RH Transformer short circuit due to moisture, capacitor failure
Plastic shell 75% RH Long-term high humidity causes deformation of plastic parts or water seepage in seams (affecting IP rating)

3. Humidity requirements for different packages

Packaging type Humidity control recommendations Applicable scenarios
Vacuum sealed bag Can be relaxed to 80% RH (short term) Shipping or tropical areas
Antistatic bag + desiccant Maintain 40%~50% RH LED modules with precision drive circuits
Ordinary cartons must be <60% RH Regular inventory, storage period <6 months

4. Professional management measures

Humidity monitoring: The warehouse should be equipped with a digital hygrometer, and the dehumidifier should be started when the RH exceeds 60%.

Desiccant dosage: 500g silica gel desiccant (such as shipping containers) is placed per cubic meter of space.

Anti-condensation treatment: If moved from a low temperature environment to a high temperature and high humidity area, it needs to be left to stand for 24 hours before unpacking.

5. Special environment response

Coastal/rainy season areas:

Select protective lamps above IP65 (such as glue-filled waterproof drive).

Treat metal interfaces with anti-rust spray before storage.

Extremely dry areas (<20% RH):

Use antistatic packaging and wear a wrist strap during operation.

FAQ
Q: How long can LED lights be stored in an environment with 85% RH?
A: Even if the package is sealed, it is not recommended to store for more than 2 weeks. Unsealed packaging may cause pin oxidation within 72 hours.

Q: What should I do if there is condensation on the surface of the stock LED lamp?
A: Cut off the power immediately, dry with warm air <50℃ and test. If the brightness is abnormal, replace the driver power supply.
