For light bulbs, the DOE has established two new regulations. On May 9, 2022, the rules were formally released. The Federal Register contains the complete text of the regulations.
Together, the two rules operate. The first defines which lights are currently formally categorized as GSLs. The second regulation sets a higher bar for energy efficiency across the board for all GSLs.
The DOE also specified when all lighting dealers, producers, and utility programs were to abide by the regulations.
