The difference between this new type of LED spotlight and the traditional spotlight is reflected in the light-emitting principle, energy saving and environmental protection. Traditional spotlights generally use halogen lamps, so its luminous efficiency is very low, and it also consumes a lot of power. Not only does it have a poor energy-saving effect, but it also has a very short lifespan. The new LED spotlights commonly used now have many advantages and are widely favored by people.

The big feature of the LED spotlight is its strong energy saving. Since the spectrum of the LED spotlight is almost all concentrated in the visible light frequency band, its luminous efficiency is relatively high, so it has a very good energy-saving effect.


2 Good environmental protection:


Because the LED spotlight does not add mercury in the production process, and does not need to add gas, it is more environmentally friendly. At the same time, the LED spotlight does not need a glass shell, and its impact resistance and seismic performance are relatively good. It is easy to transport and is very environmentally friendly. It is called "green energy".

Tracing the evolution of LED spotlights, we will hear such a saying: the first, second, and third generation of LED spotlights, and some people even call them grandfather, father, and grandson. The "third generation" came out much later than the "first generation". There is a saying that one generation is stronger than one generation, but must the "third generation" be stronger than the "first generation"?


The first generation of LED spotlights


The earliest LED spotlight, we call it the first generation for the time being. At that time, we didn't make the whole light integrated. We just replaced the previous traditional light source with LED light source. Sometimes we may need to change the driver or rectifier.


The second generation of LED spotlights


From the second generation, the LED was installed in the lamp to form an integrated lamp, but most of the light sources used a single Hight Power. At this time, the technology of the LED chip is a bit more advanced than the earlier ones and can be integrated. Come together.


There are generally two optical solutions for the second-generation spotlights, one is an integrated lens, and the other is a combination of many single lenses.

In the third generation, in recent years, a large number of LED spotlights with COB light sources have appeared. It can integrate relatively large power requirements on a small chip, achieve higher power in a small area, and produce higher lumens. Therefore, it has gradually become the most mainstream LED emitter for modern commercial lighting. lamp.


The optical design of COB spotlights has also undergone several changes:


1Pure reflective cup type


The first type is a purely reflective cup type: a COB inside and a reflective cup outside. The problem is that the light emitted directly from the COB has a strong side spot, and the spot is not very beautiful, and then an improved COB spotlight appears.


2Reflective cup + light guide column type

3 lens type


The third lens type is now used more frequently. A larger lens is added to the COB, and the lens is directly placed on the COB light source. The resulting spot effect is very good. This is the more mainstream method now. .

Advantages of the latest COB spotlights


First of all, its power range is particularly large: as small as 3W/5W, as large as 25W/35W, it can be used in restaurants, homes, and commercial lighting.


Secondly, the color temperature range is particularly wide, from the very low 2200K/2400K to the very high 6000K/6500K, breaking the color temperature limitation of the metal halide lamp which is only 3000K to 4000K. Earlier Hight Power color temperature can also be selected, but the packaging technology requirements are relatively high, so high-power lamp beads are limited to a few manufacturers, while the COB packaging technology requirements are slightly wider.


Therefore, the packaged COB can make a variety of light colors, and there are multiple color points under the same light color, which can meet the needs of more subdivisions.


The improvement of packaging technology also allows the color rendering of COB to be generally improved. A good COB can reach a CRI of 98.


Three generations must be better than one generation?


Looking back, we mentioned the first, second, and third-generation spotlights. It must be emphasized that it is not clear that "this" must be better than "that". The products used, even the first generation products from a long time ago, still have a lot of them in the market, and even sell very well.


When we say that the first, second, and third generations are only divided according to the time of appearance, it does not mean that the third generation is definitely better than the first generation.


For example, Hight Power’s lamp bead is just a luminous point, a single lamp bead can be made into a very narrow and narrow beam angle, while COB has a light-emitting surface, although a large lens can also achieve a very narrow beam angle. But in the early stage, the effect of the light spot was not as good as that of a single lens.


These types of LED track spotlights each have their own advantages and disadvantages. There is no such thing as who is derived from it. They have their own advantages and disadvantages in different eras and applications.
