Why do LED tubes need single-ended power input?




When LED lamps are certified, most companies require single-ended power input, but why do they require single-ended power input?

When a non-blocking power input is selected, the input and output of the power input are not isolated, and the lamp is regarded as a live body, so the requirements for creepage spacing and insulation will be higher, including the details between the lamp and the foot solder joints, and the solder joints. The distance between the aluminum substrates should be more than 5mm, and the distance between the two ends of the lamp beads and the aluminum substrate should also be more than 5mm. Because the functional advantages of non-blocking power input under the same conditions are very significant and the cost is lower, if it can meet various insulation requirements and pass tests such as withstand voltage, it will be more competitive in the market. However, LED fluorescent tube performance and safety regulations seem to be a pair of incompatible enemies. When it is impossible to have both, the manufacturer will increase the cost, and the personal opinion is to prefer the safety regulations. The LED fluorescent lamp power driver that the market argues has two kinds of non-blocking advantages: non-blocking and blocking. Low cost and high power. It has little effect on LED light decay and temperature, but requires reasonable lamp structure design and insulation, and it is easy to pass UL, TUV, CE, and PSE. There are 5 domestic non-blocking power supplies that have passed UL. For example, the cost of blocking the power input is high, the market competitiveness is not strong, and the heat greatly affects the life of the LED, which is at least 20% shorter. Because there are more components than non-blocking, the failure rate is relatively high, and the power is much lower than non-blocking, generally 78-82%, and the non-blocking power is 87-95%. From this point of view, non-blocking will become a certain advantage for the mainstream market in the future.
