On May 27, it was learned from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology that up to now, four cities including Dongguan have taken the lead in completing the transformation of street lamps and other LED lighting products.
According to the provincial government's deployment in May 2012, 9 cities in the Pearl River Delta will complete the LED transformation of street lights and other public lighting areas within 2 years. According to the latest statistics from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, 91% of the LED promotion and transformation work in the Pearl River Delta cities have been completed, among which Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing have completed the transformation tasks first.
According to statistics, in 2013, a total of 1,321 batches of LED lights were tendered for a total of 2.42 million, including 1.1 million street lights and tunnel lights, and 1.32 million landscape lights and indoor lights. As of the end of 2013, 1.2 million LED street lights have been installed and put into use in the province, completing 61% of the total task, and will reach 2 million in 2014, ranking first in the country in terms of application scale.

Monitoring data show that in 2013, the output value of the province’s LED industry increased significantly over the previous year, reaching 281.103 billion yuan. The data in the first quarter of this year was more optimistic. The output value of the first quarter was 59.296 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.19%.
