An industrial space's lighting requirements must be determined by taking into consideration a variety of elements. Industrial facilities must have enough lighting in order to be a safe and productive workplace. However, this must be done while taking into account the cost of electricity, bulb replacement, and fixing fixtures.
Some Quick Terminologies:
These terms are crucial to understand when determining your industrial lighting needs.
Lumen:
An illumination source's output of visible light is measured in metric units called lumens. The associated lumen count will increase as more light is shown.
Lux:
The intensity of light as seen by the human eye when it penetrates or collides with a surface is measured in lux, a metric unit. A lumen per square meter is equivalent to one lux.
A Foot-Candle:
A foot-candle is a non-SI unit that is often used in the American lighting business to determine the appropriate amounts of light in a square foot. It measures the power of light emitted from a surface. One lumen per square foot, or around 10 lux, is equivalent to one foot candle.
Size and Type of Space 2- to 5-foot candles often serve public areas like doors, loading docks, or office hallways.
Large component production facilities, locker rooms, exhibition halls, and lunch and break areas often utilize 10 to 20 foot-candles each.
Conference rooms, open warehouses, and vehicle sales lots often consume 20 to 50 foot candles per square foot.
Small component manufacturing, gymnasiums, and auto showrooms often need illumination that is between 50 and 100 foot candles.
Use 100-200 foot candles for illumination in professional gymnasiums and high precision industrial environments.
500–1000 foot candles are often required for anything high performance demanding lengthy and rigorous visual demands.
