With the advatage of easy transport, our mobile solar light tower trailer usually applicate for game court addition lighting. Inevitably, there is a risk of being smash by the ball, so some customer will ask us that "Is the solar panel glass fragile?" Due to the wide range of applications of the product, there are many similar risks when used outdoors, which are described here, here are some points to tell:
Firstly, from the product itself:
Photovoltaic modules are manufactured with commercial tempered glass, so the solar panel glass is stronger and more resistant to breakage than ordinary glass. It is able to withstand the impact of general wind and hail, customers do not have to worry too much about the general impact of the ball.
But this does not mean that solar panels will not be damaged.
Thermal shock
Sudden temperature change will crack or break glass, which called thermal shock, even the tempered glass can not immune. If you need clean solar panel, you must be very careful with timing, preferably in the early morning or at night, when the temperature is low.
Impact from heavier object
Since balls are often made of rubber, they are elastic. Solar panels are generally not broken by balls, but some sharp, heavy objects can cause a greater impact on a single point or the whole when they hit, and often solar panel will damage by them. Where you deploy solar trailer, be sure to keep any nearby trees trimmed, as a falling branch could crack the glass.
Extreme weather
Our solar panels are subject to certain the impact test before assemble, they can withstand hail up to one inch in diameter. And the panels are mounted at a tilt, so they'll typically only suffer a minor hit blow. A softball-size hail may crack solar panel, fortunately, this extreme weather is rare. You can store and protect solar panels in advance with weather forecasts.
Finally, you can't prevent solar panel get damage totally. You can take some protective measures while deploying solar trailer.
Lights angle are highly adjustable, you can back photovoltaic panels to potentially risky areas where possible and shine lights onto the site
If possible build a 3m high wire fence between the site and the solar light trailer to reduce the risk of damage by objects.
You can consult your local insurance company to find out if there is insurance related to photovoltaic panel glass.
You can buy some photovoltaic panels from us as spare parts and replace them when the glass is badly damaged.
