Mobile Solar Light Tower Typical Proposal

Load profile 

This mobile solar light tower system is designed to power 4 x 100W LED floodlights for a period of 12 hours per night as well as 2x extractor fans. 

4 x 100W LED floodlights @ 4.8kWh 

2 x 24V at 5W/light 120m³h IP54 extractor fan + cell phone charging@ 1.2kWh 

 

Total Kwh over 12 hours = 6kWh 

 

During the day time, the PV array will supply adequate power to keep the system operational for 12hours plus. 

 

PV Generation 

The system consists of 4 x 305W solar modules with a 1.22 KWp solar panel array, mounted on top of the trailer. The panels on top of the trailer are built and designed for easy set-up. They come on a foldable solar panel frames. The solar modules will be connected in a series parallel connection that is two in series and two in parallel.  

The power generated from the PV array during an 8-10 hour day (depends on seasons) will produce on average 8kWh, which will be stored in the batteries.  To supply energy for the extractor fans and the floodlights you will need in total 6kwh over a period of 12hours.  Please refer to ANNEX 1 for more info on the proposed solar panel 


Inverter/charger 

The EasySolar combines a MPPT solar charge controller, an inverter/charger and AC distribution in one enclosure. The product is easy to install, with a minimum of wiring. The easy solar  comes with a color control panel. The color control panel collects data from all equipment and shows it on the display.The AC distribution consists of a RCD (30mA / 63A) and four AC outputs protected by two 10A and two 16A circuit breakers. An additional 16A output is controlled by the AC input: it will switch on only when AC is available. The system will installed with a BMV 702 Smart with Bluetooth built inside. This product will enable BPS technical department to communicate with the system. Please refer to ANNEX 2 for more information on the proposed inverter/charger 

 

Battery Bank 

The system consists of 4 battery banks of Omni-Power gel batteries, delivering in total 12kwh @ 50% D.O.D. This includes 8x240Ah, 12v Gel batteries connected in 24volt to provide back-up power. The system has been designed with 2-3 days autonomy, these means there is enough energy to power the load for 24 hours of night time without charging from solar PV or AC input. Within the system design there are parameters left for officers to charge their cellular phones. Please refer to ANNEX 3 for more information on the proposed batteries.

The Floodlights are plugged into outlet sockets for ease of work. 

When de-assembling the system, there is extra space in the back of the trailer provided for packing away equipment and extra goods that are needed at police roadblocks.

TELESCOPIC MAST 

The trailer will be fitted with the most economical pneumatically extended mast lighting system. The  FLALS100W are compact portable lighting sets which can be easily fitted to small service vehicles or trailers.
