OLED will fundamentally change the form of lighting
As a light source that contributes to energy saving like LEDs and can achieve a higher degree of freedom in lighting than LEDs, OLEDs are highly anticipated. OLED has not yet been fully put into practical use, and there are quite a few issues. However, in OLED, there is hidden innovation that can subvert the traditional lighting concept.
The most unprecedented feature is that the light source itself emits surface light. Existing lighting, including LED lighting, uses point and line light sources to illuminate the space. When surface light is needed, multiple point light sources and linear light sources are always arranged together, and a lampshade in the shape of a panel is covered on the outside. The use of OLED can directly realize the lighting of the whole surface, and can produce the best equipment for large-scale and uniform lighting.
The thickness of the light-emitting part is basically the same as the thickness of the glass and plastic as the substrate. Very light and thin, and very harmonious with the surface interior. It can illuminate the entire ceiling, or cover the surface of furniture and appliances such as walls, windows, tables, chairs, etc., and directly emit light as lighting. In other words, the lighting looks like "paste" rather than "install".
In addition to being effective in places where space is limited, such as inside cars and airplanes, it is also expected to be realized by placing signs and lighting like posters. With the designer's new creativity, unexpected lighting may appear in the future.
