Things to Consider When Buying LED Lighting

What to Think About When Purchasing LED Lighting

Equivalent Wattage - Although lumens are the current standard, having a reference that is simple to understand is helpful. You may get an idea of how effectively an LED bulb will illuminate a space by comparing it to an incandescent. In general, 1/4 or 1/5 the incandescent wattage number is near to what you require when it comes to LED wattages.

Lumens - Lumens are a direct measurement of how much light the bulb emits overall. A 60-watt incandescent typically emits 800 lumens of light, with a variance of 50–100 lumens above or below that average. The variation depends on the lamp's age and manufacturer. The maximum brightness rating of an LED is directly rated, and they last significantly longer without requiring bulb dimming.

Color temperature is your reference to the appearance of the light. Lower values are warmer; for example, 2700–3000K produces a more incandescent "warm white," while 5000K produces a very harsh "stark white" light. You may choose a color temperature and observe how it alters a kitchen using our lighting guide.

Driver Content - LEDs don't normally operate on AC power due to their architecture. To function properly, many LEDs need some kind of driver to change the voltage from AC to DC. Even though the majority of socket-based LED bulbs are self-driven, you should always verify before buying to make sure that, if it isn't, you're purchasing both an LED and a driver.
