Top 10 high-brightness LED manufacturers
The market research organization Strategies Unlimited recently announced the top ten high-brightness LED manufacturers in 2010, including companies from Japan, South Korea, the United States, Germany, and Taiwan.
In addition to Japan's Nichia (Nichia) holding the top spot, Sharp and Toyota Gosei (Toyoda Gosei) are also on the list.
In South Korea, Samsung LED, Seoul Semiconductor and LG Innotek are also among the top ten.
The United States is represented by Cree and Philips Lumileds, while Germany and Taiwan have Osram Opto Semiconductor and Everlight respectively.
Samsung LED, Seoul Semiconductor and LG Innotek are mainly benefiting from the booming LCD TV/monitor backlight market; Osram is performing well in the high-brightness LED market in mainland China, especially in the automotive application field; Philips Lumileds is in high-power backlighting applications and mobile phone flash And architectural lighting and other fields have good results; Cree mainly focuses on the lighting market, and is committed to ensuring its market position in the solid-state lighting revolution.
Everlight's total revenue in 2010 was NT$16.7 billion, a 49% increase from 2009. It also has outstanding performance in lighting and LED displays.
It is worth mentioning that although mainland Chinese LED manufacturers account for only 2% of the total output value of the global high-brightness LED market, and related technologies are still behind the international manufacturers by about 3 to 5 years, StrategyUnlimited believes that mainland China is expected to be in 2015 The previous investment of 10.4 billion US dollars in the development of the solid-state lighting industry will help it shorten the gap with international players.
On the whole, LCD TV/monitor backlight applications were the largest contributor to the output value of high-brightness LEDs in 2010, followed by the mobile device application market, especially driven by the sharp increase in the sales of notebook computers in 2010. The penetration rate has doubled compared to 2009.
In 2011 and 2012, LCD TV/monitor backlights will continue to be a strong driving force for the growth of LEDs, but it began to slow down in 2013. From 2010 to 2015, the compound annual growth rate of LED in the LCD TV/monitor backlight market (CAGR) ) Will exceed 16%.
As for the application output value of LED in the lighting market in 2010, it reached 890 million US dollars. With the increasing global emphasis on energy efficiency and the elimination of incandescent bulbs, it is estimated that after 2014, solid-state lighting will become the main driving force for the growth of high-brightness LEDs, with a compound growth rate of 39% from 2010 to 2015.
