Due to the energy benefits they offer, LED and compact fluorescent light bulbs have become very popular among homes. LED lightbulbs are much preferable for use with electric garage door openers because they have a 25% longer lifespan than compact fluorescent lamps and don't interfere with the signal that the door opener and its remote control use to communicate.

First, some background information. What does the term LED mean?
A light-emitting diode (LED) lamp is a semiconductor device that, when an electric current is passed through it, produces light. LED bulbs were first used in electronic goods.
An LED uses energy much more efficiently than the well-known incandescent lightbulb, which only uses 5% of the energy provided to create light and wastes the remaining 95% in heat. Low-output (dim) LED bulbs are used as indicators on household devices and in festive illumination. High-output (bright) LED bulbs are used for general lighting.
The benefits of LED lighting
The following are the main benefits of LED bulbs:
85% or more of the energy saved is compared to conventional illumination.
Based on a typical daily use of three hours, their service life is approximately 25,000 hours. If your garage door actuator is the only source of illumination, this is very useful.
They don't require any warm-up time before producing light, just like conventional lights.
They barely generate any heat.
