New high-power horticulture LED from ams OSRAM achieves industry-leading energy efficiency

With an industry-leading wall plug efficiency of 83.2% in Hyper Red, the OSCONIQ® P 3737 high-power LED offers distinctive output levels and financial benefits.
The Q90 lifespan of 102,000 hours provides farmers of flowers, vegetables, and other plants with a steady photon flux.
At GreenTech Amsterdam 2024, OSRAM will showcase the newest highlight items from their horticulture lighting line from June 11 to June 13.

Munich, Germany, and Premstaetten, Austria (May 21, 2024) -- Greenhouse operators may save electricity by using energy-efficient LED solutions. Making the switch to LED lighting pays dividends since it increases efficiency significantly and reduces costs. The OSCONIQ® P 3737, a high-power LED with cutting-edge chip technology, has been introduced by ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS), a global leader in intelligent sensors and emitters. It offers industry-leading performance with an overall wall plug efficiency (WPE) of 83.2% in Hyper Red, exceptional robustness, and a long lifespan.

Comparative savings with the OSCONIQ® P 3737: optimal light intensity with reduced energy expenses

Without sacrificing light output ratio (LOR), greenhouse energy costs may be drastically decreased with the new OSCONIQ® P 3737 from ams OSRAM. Manufacturers of horticulture luminaires may remodel their fixtures to attain a greater photon flux of 6.13 µmol/s with reduced energy usage using the LED's market-leading total wall plug efficiency of 83.2% in Hyper Red. As a consequence, crop yields are maximized, harvest cycles are shortened, and the photosynthetic rate (PS rate) is significantly increased.

This is a straightforward cost calculation: In comparison to previous-generation LEDs, which had an overall efficiency of 74 percent, the new OSCONIQ® P 3737 Hyper Red may deliver 11 percent energy savings with its overall efficiency of 83.2%. This translates to €11 for every €100 spent with the same photon flux. Installing the newest LED lighting technology may save vegetable, flower, and other farmers € 11,000 annually for a medium-sized greenhouse with yearly power bills exceeding € 100,000. Furthermore, shorter crop cycles and increased biomass might be the outcomes of greater photon flux levels. Tests have shown that even after 102,000 operational hours, the LED continues to provide 90% of its initial light output. This indicates that out of all the LEDs for horticulture fixtures, the OSCONIQ® P 3737 has the longest lifespan.

*Based on system specifications and energy costs

The OSCONIQ® P 3737 is an ideal option for applications including vertical farming, sole-source lighting, interlighting between plant or flower rows, and greenhouse top lighting. Hyper Red (660 nm), Red (640 nm), Deep Blue (450 nm), Far Red (730 nm), and Horti White are its five color options, which serve a wide range of needs in controlled horticulture.

In 2024, Ams OSRAM will showcase its industry-leading LED range at GreenTech Amsterdam.

At GreenTech Amsterdam, the international gathering spot for horticulture technology experts and investors, OSRAM will demonstrate its cutting-edge sensor solutions and industry-leading LED range from June 11 to 13. Experts from ams OSRAM will walk guests through the newest product highlights at the Vertical Farming Pavilion (Hall 05, Stand 370VF) and respond to any inquiries on easy, astute, and sustainable crop growing.

Ams OSRAM will present a new demo board at GreenTech in collaboration with one of its clients, Inventronics: Dr. Alexander Hoffmann, Head of PL Grow & Industry at ams OSRAM, highlighted, "We are very excited that our visitors will have the opportunity to discover it at GreenTech. Inventronics uses the OSCONIQ® P 3737 for its pioneering Horticulture LED Module P 3737 demo board for plant growers and greenhouse operators." "The 4-channel board from Inventronics, equipped with LEDs from our high-power OSCONIQ product family, enables greenhouse operators to save money while improving performance, even in challenging conditions."

With solutions for 120-277 V AC and 277-480 V AC, these drivers provide power outputs up to 1800 W. Notably, Inventronics offers the widest selection of DALI-2 D4i drivers available on the market right now, guaranteeing a multitude of choices to meet every lighting need. According to the roadmap, the 4-channel 1200 W driver, which has a high efficiency of 96% and power sharing technology that enables the independent distribution of power to each channel, offers complete bi-directional control via a digital interface. This cutting-edge technology represents a significant advancement in digital lighting for horticultural applications.

The Inventronics stand (05.413) and the ams OSRAM booth at the Vertical Farming Pavilion (Hall 05, Stand 370VF) will both display the new horticulture demo board.
